“Spalting” is a fungal discoloration caused by partially decayed wood characterized in dark contrasting lines and streaks. Created from Spalted Maple, this design showcases these imperfections, turning previously unwanted defects into desirable features. Naturally fragile and brittle, once stabilized, the wood is fortified and it’s character preserved. Bright and almost cartographical in appearance, this unique material adds a sense of delicate antiquity.
